It hasn’t been easy to find Chicago Christmas Cocktails this early in the season ( I didn’t think t was that early). I heard through the grapevine, aka my foodie friends that Club Lucky was decked out in Christmas decor so I had a feeling I may be in LUCK-Y!
It was the most perfect evening to go check out the Casual Italian Neighborhood restaurant because we just had our first snow fall. Glistening snow hanging on tree branches and a hint of Christmas in the air was just pure fate.
Club Lucky dates back to 1937, when the Bucktown bar was attached to a VFW hall. The restaurant still maintains it’s 1940’s look with tin ceilings and cozy leather booths. We made our way to the bar of course and picked up the cocktail menu. Known for their martinis, I wondered if they played that up with a Chicago Christmas Cocktail. Sure enough, the first drink on the menu was “Sleigh Ride“. I think that sums it up. Yes please!
Sleigh Ride consists of; ‘Orchata, Amarula and Captain Morgan’s Spiced Rum topped of with a Cinnamon-Sugar Rim.
Have you ever had chocolate milk with rum? That’s what it reminded me of. A frothy light and creamy chocolate milk with a hint of spiced liquor. A sip of heaven with a cinnamon blast at the end.
I can’t lie, I did have a BONUS cocktail after the delicious Sleigh Ride. My go to cocktail is a Kir Royal. By far this one was my absolute favorite. It is a combination of Champaign and Crème de Cassis that is to die for.
Thank you Club Lucky for taking such good care of us! I’ll be back!
